Damar Hutchinson hails from St. Georges College in Kingston where many teachers and students thought he was wasting his time in school.

He managed to graduate St. Georges College in 2009 and transitioned into a diploma program at the Vocational Training Development Institute where he studied Draughting and Building Technology. Upon completing his diploma he wanted to pursue higher education at the University of Technology. Hutchinson finally got enrolled at UTECH in 2013 with no money. However, he had bright ideas of how he will finance his University education.

Hutchinson began providing freelance drafting services to Architects and Engineers in the cooperate area, while teaching himself how to make websites and studying various online business models. In 2015, Hutchinson created a modern car resource website [CarsInJamaica.com] where persons can buy and sell vehicles online.

Hutchinson aggressively market his website to both large and small car dealers across the island, he had to deal with a lot of rejections from larger car dealers. Hutchinson state clearly one evening he went to a prominent dealership in Kingston sharing the benefits of the platform and one of the managers stated bluntly “We don’t need you, your website can’t do anything for us”. However, many of the smaller car dealers realize the benefit of using this website.

Hutchinson hustled this way through UTECH by selling small gadgets and earnings from his car website, Hutchinson currently [2016 – 2017] in final year at UTECH decided to start a brick and mortar business around his Father profession who is a taxi driver.travelr

Hutchinson founded Travelr Taxi & Tour Services in Novemeber 2016 and managed to convince car dealers to lease him vehicles to build his fleet of taxis. Hutchinson does an amateur vlog called “TravelrAdventures” documenting his daily activities actually building the company from ground up.

Hutchinson is optimistic about the future of Jamaica’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, he currently volunteer his expertise with Nex Gen Creators; Nex Gen Creators is a non-profit organization in Jamaica that is on a mission to inspire the next generation.
